Contains Holtermann's Disputatio juridica de nequitia advocatorum, which has at p. [42], introducing the rebuttal, a title: Judicium defensivum in erroneam maleq́[ue] formatam, nuperrime editam De nequitiis advocatorum disputationem tradit Franciscus Cliens. At p. 93 is a rejoinder, ostensibly written after Holtermann's death, entitled: Virgae, virgae ob Judicium defensivum loco judicii elisivi pro Francisco Cliente, malorum advocatorum, rabularum forensium & strepsodicistorum, qui ex albo nigrum, ex recto pravum aut contra faciunt, allegato patrono absurdissimo & vigilantissimo. The Gebet begins on p. 150.
While the NUC pre-1956 and Allgemeine deutsche Biographie treat this as a 1679 or 1681 Marburg dissertation, with Holtermann as praeses and a certain Alhard Wilhelm Woltermann as respondent, this serio-comic work (with its rebuttal by "Franciscus Cliens," which seems to have appeared with the "dissertation" from the first) does not appear in v. 1 or 2 of Hermann Mundt's Bio-bibliographisches Verzeichnis von Universitäts- u. Hochschuldrucken (Dissertationen) vom Ausgang des 16. bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts (the part based on original monastic holdings); it does appear under "Wolterman [sic], Alhard Wilhelm" in v. 3; but that part was retrospectively compiled by the Universitätsbibliothek Erlangen-Nürnberg from its holdings and other sources, making it less than certain that the present work was a real dissertation.
Head-pieces; initials.
