Culture Class Collection copy inscribed "Bibliothecae Colbertinae" from the library founded by Jean Baptiste Colbert (1619-1683), director of the French Royal Library and bibliophile, and owned successively by his descendants until it was sold in Paris in 1728.
Culture Class Collection copy in armorial binding with arms of the Malmesbury on left and right covers. This book became part of the library of Hurn (or Heron) Court, former seat of the Earls of Malmesbury and was rebound with the Malmesbury arms.
Culture Class Collection copy has shelfmark from the library of Hurn (or Heron) Court: "J... IV...14" with a previous shelfmark written below (H... 5...10 Lib) crossed out.
