Summary:
In 1991, Erasmo Aragón lives in Mexico, where he works as a journalist, and is about to return to El Salvador to start a new life and take part in the founding of a magazine, an exciting project in light of the talks between the government and guerillas indicate peace could be within reach. Erasmo also sees the return to what he considers his native country as a way of escaping his increasingly tumultuous relationship with Eva, the mother of his daughter. Before leaving Mexico, he visits Dr. Alvarado seeking relief from terrible stomach pains. The doctor prescribes hypnosis to relieve the stress caused by the pain. At first, the hypnosis helps but then becomes an obsession, since he remembers nothing of what the doctor reveals and soon begins reliving tragic events from his life.
