Summary:
The thirteen recipes in this book of colonial New Jersey "receipts" predate the first published American cookbook by twenty-five years. The recipes are presented with an historical backdrop of life and times in colonial Burlington. The authors believe that "Polly's" full married name may have been Mary Burling Smith. She was a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers).
