- Summary:
- Nine studies in the volume complement and explain aspects of the Geologic Map of Eastern Grand Canyon (previously published as Geologic Map of the Butte Fault/East Kaibab Area by the Grand Canyon Association). This area is of particular interest because it contains most of the features of the rest of the Grand Canyon plus some that are not found elsewhere. The topics include Vishnu basement rocks of the upper Granite Gorge: continent formation 1.84 to 1.66 billion years ago, the Neoproterozoic Earth system revealed from the Chuar Group of Grand Canyon, geologic history and paleogeography of Paleozoic and Early Mesozoic sedimentary rocks, faulting and uplift in the Grand Canyon region, and the Quaternary geomorphology. There is no index. The map comprises two sheets, each three feet by five feet, printed in full color. One shows the topography of the area, and the other shows the layers from the surface to the bottom. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
