Summary:
Jandt's introductory textbook continues to assist countless students to appreciate the opportunities and challenges each culture presents to its people, and to develop the skills needed for competent verbal--and nonverbal--intercultural communication. Motivated general readers seeking an overview of intercultural communication might also find the book to be an accessible starting point. The chapter sequence and chapter focus of previous editions has been retained, but the facts, statistics, and references have been extensively updated for the seventh edition. Jandt has added numerous examples from contemporary international events--the March 2011 earthquake in Japan, updated examples from Africa, recent material on immigration and attitudes toward immigration, more current material on the Arab states--and also incorporated a new focus on social media throughout the text.
