Opera in three acts.
First performed in Madrid, Real Coliseo del Buen Retiro, 1756; where it was commissioned and produced by Carlo Broschi Farinelli, during his 12 years at the Spanish court of Ferdinand VI (1747-1759).
This edition was prepared from two original manuscripts that have been located thus far. The principal source, manuscript A (1756) is preserved at the Biblioteca del Liceo Musicale de Bolonia among the collection of works that were owned and conserved by Farinelli. The second, manuscript B, derived from manuscript A with interesting variants, is housed at the Biblioteca del Palacio da Ajuda de Lisboa.
