- This reader contains selections from 8 Russian and Soviet writers working with erotic prose between 1900-1940. Themes of religious chastity, gender and sexual politics under communism/Bolshevism, and the fear of corporeality are discussed. The selections are organized into three sections: silver age writing, interwar émigré literature, and early Soviet fiction. The authors include excerpts from Vasilii Rozanov, Fydor Sologub, Georgii Ivanov, Vikentii Veresaev, Leonid Andreyev, Aleksandr Kuprin, Vladislav Khodasevich, and Panteleymon Romanov. There is minimal information: a half-page introduction for each author accompanied by a photo, foot-notes and a section at the end recommending further reading.
