Summary:
Medina (education, Borough of Manhattan Community College/CUNY) was born in New York City and grew up in the Dominican Republic, then earned her doctorate in education. She is founder of a non-profit organization in Spanish Harlem that provides dance instruction to children. In this slim book she devotes the first chapter to describing her own upbringing, education and involvement with dance, as well as the growth of her passion for teaching. In the chapters that follow she presents a pedagogical model that incorporates particular types of aesthetic experiences. Her life experiences and her study will interest teachers, future teachers, art educators, others trying to build art programs in schools. The book is not indexed.
