- Summary:
- The first full stylistic study of the Micali Painter, an ancient vase-painter, this book provides a catalogue of his surviving work (about 200 pieces) and an account of his development within, and influence on, archaic Etruscan painting. It clarifies the artist's unique contributions to the black-figure style that owed more to native imagination than to Athenian influence, and demonstrates the Micali Painter's vivacity, originality, and range through a wealth of illustrations.
