Biography/History:
Referred to as Nāgojī Bhaṭṭa in the colophon (f. 46v), son of Satī and Śiva Bhaṭṭa Upādhyāya.
Summary:
Manuscript is employed for consultation or teaching and is a grammatical commentary on Bhaṭṭojī Dīkṣita's Siddhāntakaumudī, particularly emphasizing religious aspects or qualities of traditional grammatical treatises as well as elevating the ancient grammarians such as Pāṇini and Patāñjali to a semi-divine status. Manuscript lacks a beginning.
Notes:
Title from colophon (f. 185r).
Written in 9-10 lines per leaf.
100 leaves foliated 85-172, [i], 173-183, upper left and lower right verso.
Colophon: iti śrīmadupādhyāyopanāmakaśivabhaṭṭasutasatīgarbhajanāgeśabhaṭṭaracetelaghuśabdeṃḍaśekharākhye siddhāṃtakaumudīvyākhyāne uttarārdhasamāptam // saṃvat 1847 mītivai - (f. 183r).
Dated saṃvat 1847 (1790) (f. 183r); first section of manuscript (f. 85-136) is in a different hand, the paper is older, and likely is an earlier date than this.
Mistakes blacked out; some corrections and additions in margins; significant syllables, words, or phrases highlighted in red throughout; vertical margins marked with double red or black line.
Folios 137-183 are written in a second scribal hand, and the paper appears to be much newer than the first section of the manuscript (f. 85-136).
Non-Latin script record.
