Summary:
This second edition of an AJN award-winning text is a major resource for teaching evidence-based practice (EBP) rooted in a tested philosophy of teaching and learning. It provides the tools, perspective, and context for health educators and practitioners to implement evidence-based practices and evaluate their efficacy. Reflecting six years of successful experience in helping academic and clinical agencies understand and implement EBP, this new edition has been reorganized to include updated information and five new chapters.
New chapters strongly emphasize the importance of mentorship in creating EBP and illustrate how mentorship can be designed and implemented. The text describes proven strategies for integrating EBP into routine practice, and includes the successful experiences of nursing professionals integrating EBP into academic curricula and clinical projects. Case studies illustrate strategies for creating both academic and practice cultures for EBP, and for fostering an academic milieu that encourages lifelong learning and an ingrained spirit of inquiry. The book demonstrates the importance of administrative support in implementing EBP, and the value of feedback from clinical partners at all organizational levels. It also offers strategies to craft worldwide collaborations for EBP. Teaching Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing, Second Edition, will be of value to clinical and academic educators and administrators, unit managers, students attending CE programs, and students in nursing education graduate programs.
