- Ownership stamps, probably 19th century, in Persian: a rectangle in purple ink with the name Muṣṭafá Shāh ʻAlāʼī and the title Qānūn added by hand (f. 1r), and a ring in red ink with the name Manūchihr Nukhastīn Āṣaf Qājār (f. 1r, 109r, 228r, 278r, 321r).

- Summary:
- First book of Avicenna's medical encyclopedia, comprising an introduction to general knowledge of medicine, anatomy, temperament, and the effect of environment on health and disease. Frequent marginal annotations, some affected by trimming. The first 40 leaves and the last 10 are later replacements.

- Title supplied by cataloger.
- Foliation: Paper, 321; [1-321], modern foliation in pencil, upper left recto. Contemporary foliation in Hindu-Arabic numerals in ink (50-80) visible on upper right verso.
- Layout: Written in 15-18 long lines.
- Script: Written in naskh in black ink; pointed, by multiple hands; beginning and end (f. 1-40, 310-321) of manuscript written on replacement leaves by a later hand in a narrower version of the script.
- Decoration: Headings and significant words and phrases written or overlined in red ink.
- Binding: Plain black leather over pasteboard.
- Origin: Item is undated, but based on the paper and some marginal notes in Persian, probably copied in Persia in the late 14th century; the replacement leaves, on paper with chain lines, may be from the early 15th century.
