Summary:
Manuscript for public or private use for consultation, recitation, and the performance of observances (vratas) to ward off widowhood and the propitiation of the Hindu deities Śiva and Pārvatī. Outlines the installation of images and the invitation of the deities therein, their worship, and related mythology.

Written in 9-11 lines per leaf.
9 leaves foliated 1-9, lower right verso.
Colophon: iti śrīskaṃdapurāṇe sūtaṛṣisaṃvāde karkaṭīvratakathāsamāptā // (f. 9v).
Mistakes blacked out; some corrections and additions in margins.
Written on European paper with watermarks. The same scribe and paper were also used for Item 1447, Item 1453, Item 1455, Item 1456, and Item 1459, and may have originally been from the same manuscript as one or more of these items.
