The 1st work originally for treble or countertenor solo and chorus with orchestra, the orchestra part on this recording arranged for harp, percussion and organ. The 2nd work, a reworking for chorus and organ by the composer of his Adagio for strings, performed by unaccompanied chorus. The 3rd work for mezzo soprano solo and unaccompanied chorus. The 4th work for unaccompanied chorus.
Text of the 1st work from Psalms 2, 23, 100, 108, 131, and 133; sung in Hebrew. The 2nd work sung in Latin. Text of the 3rd work from Genesis. The 3rd and 4th works sung in English.
