- Summary:
- This fascinating new Dutton recording features the first recordings of Jane Austen's three favorite songs and a dozen more premières, including the first chance to hear the only piece of music specifically mentioned in the novels. The piano featured on these recordings is an 1817 Broadwood grand signed by the composer J.B. Cramer. Broadwood is the only make of piano, and Cramer the only composer, mentioned by Jane Austen in Emma (1815). The pieces recorded here are drawn from seventeen music albums that belonged to Jane Austen and her female relations.
