- Summary:
- Colleagues of Kossiakoff (1914-2005) in the physics department at Johns Hopkins University have revised his 2003 graduate textbook introducing the field and practice of systems engineering, which involves designing large, complex systems programs from inception to operational use. Changes and additions have been made throughout, but particularly regarding the system engineer's career, viewpoint, system boundaries, system complexity, architecture, decision making and support, and software systems engineering. After a section on foundations of systems engineering, they walk through the concept development stage, the engineering development stage, and the post-development stage.
