- Summary:
- The textbook is for a second year course in mathematics for undergraduate students of engineering, and emphasizes techniques and applications supported by sufficient formal proofs to warrant the methods being employed. Titled Further Engineering Mathematics for its first three editions, 1986-1996, it serves as a companion to Stroud's (formerly mathematics, Coventry U.) Engineering Mathematics. Booth (formerly computing and engineering, U. of Huddersfield) came on board with the 2003 fourth edition, and many of the changes here are additions or adjustments to innovations there. Among the topics are Laplace transforms, power series solutions of ordinary differential equations, vector analysis, and complex analysis.
