The dialogue was written by Dr. William Smith. Cf. Hopkinson, F., The miscellaneous essays and occasional writings of Francis Hopkinson, Esq., 1792, volume 3. Dr. Smith was the first Provost of the University of Pennsylvania; Francis Hopinson was a member of the first graduating class of the University of Pennsylvania and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Local Notes:
Kislak Center copy has scattered foxing; a loss of a word or two (?) on last page. Volume is sewn with uneven edges. Copy contains handwritten marginal note on page 3 indicating a prompt for the character, "Amyntor", perhaps indicating item is the first, or at least, an early printing of a first edition?
Kislak copy was formerly owned by Paul Sary of East Peoria, Illinois. Purchased for the Penn Libraries in 2013.
