Summary:
Muttitt, author and policy director for antipoverty organization War on Want, fills what he describes as a gap in media accounts of the Iraq War, why it dragged on for years, and why the U.S. military left when it did. The gap, he says, is oil--a key element of Iraqi and Mideast politics that was largely overlooked in news media accounts of the war. The author used hundreds of unreleased government documents and interviews with American, British, and Iraqi officials as the basis for writing the story of what might be described as the 'other Iraq War.'
