- Biography/History:
- South Indian follower of the Advaita Vedanta school of Hindu philosophy from a Śaiva-siddhānta perspective, living 1520-1593.
- Summary:
- Manuscript used in private or public recitation and prayer focused on the veneration and praise of the Hindu deity Śiva. A mystical text of 50 verses considered to have been written when the author Appayya Dīkṣita was intoxicated. Opening benediction is to Śiva rather than Gaṇeśa, as is common in Sanskrit manuscripts.
