Summary:
Swedish author Larsson's Millennium trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest) made quite a stir in the U.S.in book and film versions for their depictions of violence against women and its "kick-ass" female protagonist. Sociologists King (U. of North Carolina Wilmington) and Smith (Millersville U. of Pennsylvania) present diverse feminist readings of these portrayals of misogynic violence, gender roles and power, and readers' responses. The book includes Swedish perspectives and suggestions for further reading. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
