- Summary:
- As I grew older, the urge to understand my unique parents, the chaotic circumstances of my childhood, our contradictory family history and the harsh yet beloved country I grew up in, became too overwhelming to ignore. I had dreamt of being a writer since I was ten years old. When I sat down to do it, what emerged swept me away.
- I was born in Iran, a land of kings and queens, camel trains and minarets. My mother was a charismatic and witty American and my father a dashing British engineer. We had drivers and servants, parties with the Shah's family and picnics in the desert. Then it ended. There were bankruptcies and prison, betrayals and lovers, lies and evasions. Suddenly it was all over and I have been trying to make sense of it ever since. Book jacket.
