Summary:
This is a manuscript miscellany on themes of Passover containing explanations and elucidations on verses from the Torah readings and Haftarah portions read on Passover, with some additional piyutim (the ḍhir was a manuscript tradition which began in 18th century Morocco). Piyutim about Passover preparations (f. 1v-4v), and selected verse translations (such as Exodus XII, the selecting of the Paschal Lamb; f. 3v); Aramaic piyutim, such as an abridgment of the description of the Four Nights in which God appeared (likely a Byzantine Passover text abridged from Targum Pseudo-Jonathan to Exodus XII:42) and a preliminary piyut (Reshut) and blessings for the Haftarah (f. 15r-20r); readings for the second day (Torah reading and Haftarah; f. 25v-46r) are followed by the Haftarah of the seventh day (f. 46v-57v) and eighth day (f. 57v-65r). Written in a Moroccan square script (verses, piyut text) and a Moroccan cursive script (Targums, instructions, and elucidations); verses and stanza opening words in a bold green-brown ink; decorated words precede each section or topic (green and brown inks, flora inside adorned cross-squares, such as f. 13r). Bound in modern half-calf over modern boards; spine in six parts; gilt spine title in Hebrew.
