- Summary:
- Manuscript contains two texts called the Kapilāṣaṣṭhīvidhāna one, longer text is from the Skandapurāṇa and a shorter version is from the Bhaviṣyottarapurāṇa. The first text is presented as a dialogue between the deity Brahmā (also called Pitāmaha or Grandfather), the legendary figure Yudhiṣṭhira, and the deity Kṛṣṇa. Both texts are prescribe rites and observances (vrata) such as bathing, to be performed on the sixth day in the dark half of the month of Bhādrapada (August-September) in order to receive personal benefits such as purification and the destruction of sin (pāpa). Various offerings are also prescribed such as flowers, cow's milk, and mantras.
