- Summary:
- In this year's St. Thomas Aquinas lecture, McGary (philosophy, U. of Pittsburgh) not only argues that the post-racial society has not yet been achieved in America, he questions the wisdom and morality of such an outcome. To this end he explores the thought of three important scholars: Anthony Appia's views on racial kinship, Tommie Shelby's thoughts on racial solidarity, and Jorge Garcia's theory that racism arises from non-cognitive, emotionally driven reactions. Sixty three footnotes have been added to the printed version, but no index is provided. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
