Summary:
British Lieutenant General John Burgoyne and his troops lost to the Americans at Saratoga in 1777, and he faced parliamentary investigation two years after this pivotal defeat. The papers he gathered together for the investigation--housed now in the Parliamentary Archives, Houses of Parliament, London--include correspondence and his own interpretive narrative. Although frequently cited, they are presented here for the first time in their entirety, with contextual information. Cubbison, who is president of a historic preservation and interpretation consulting firm, has undertaken the task. This book includes his introductory and concluding essays as well as a calendar of the papers, a bibliography, and indexing. Published by The Arthur H. Clark Co, an imprint of the U. of Oklahoma Press. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
