- Summary:
- The role of the Internet in the illegal trade of art and antiquities is examined in this collection of research commissioned by The Netherlands' Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science. Contributors are practitioners and academics in criminology, police studies, and cybersafety. The book contains a literature review, interviews with experts, and analysis of two of the Netherlands' leading online trading sites. It describes the nature and scale of the sector in trade in cultural goods via the Internet, looking at what proportion is legal and what proportion is illegal. The study concludes that current legislation is enough to combat illegal trafficking in cultural goods on the Internet, but recommends improvements in monitoring and enforcement. B&w photos from websites are included. Information on the author is not given and there is no subject index. The book is distributed in the US by ISBS.
