- Narrated by Śeṣa, celebrated mythological thousand-headed serpent connected to the deity Viṣṇu. Reciting this praise of the three rivers (triveṇī) where pilgrims go to bathe in the city of Prayāga (modern day Allahabad) is said to liberate the reader or hearer from sin (pāpa).
