Summary:
School librarian Keane offers a resource for teachers and librarians who work with teens and young adults. The booklists focus on books that can support the theme of a lesson, as well as titles young people will enjoy, such as titles on steampunk, the paranormal, tattoos and body modification, and coming of age. The needs of male readers are addressed with lists of books on vampires for boys, humor and historical fiction for middle school boys, and 'bromance.' The lists are presented according to themes of genre, characters, books about self and identity, setting, curriculum subjects, and teaching literary elements. A final section gives read-alikes for 30 titles. Emphasis is on fiction and non-fiction published in the last 10 years. Annotations are taken from the Library of Congress cataloging database; entries also provide notes on interest, grade, and reading levels. The book also includes a list of professional resources for teachers and librarians. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
