- Summary:
- This work on novelist, journalist, Christian apologist, and literary and social critic G.K. Chesterton considers his ideas and his writing together and the relationship between the two, examining his theology, his philosophy, his political views, and his literary writing. After an overview of his life, themes, and critical reception, the book presents chapters on Chesterton's fiction, poetry, essays, and writings in biography and history, showing how different genres encouraged the expression of different kinds of thinking. The book includes a biographical timeline from Chesterton's birth in 1874 to the death of his widow in 1938. Hurley teaches English at Robinson College, Cambridge.
