The Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) is one of the most significant religious and cultural events of the twentieth century. For Canadians, the council arrived at a time of unprecedented societal change, and profoundly affected the Church's understanding of its place and mission in the world. During the council, Canadian Catholic bishops, theological advisors, and observers from other Christian churches met with their peers from around the world to reflect on the pressing issues facing the Church.
