- 明代翻刻宋本是明代以宋本作为底本而重新雕刻而成的刻本.雕版印刷发明后至两宋而盛极一时. 宋人刻书, 校勘认真, 写善镂精, 纸墨上乘, 赏心悦目, 因而颇受后人的称誉赞美. 随着时间的流逝, 迨至明代, 宋本日渐稀少而显得珍贵难觅. 明初前代典籍出版稀缺, 产生古籍出版的社会需求 ; 弘正时期文化复古思潮蜂起, 学子要求多读古书 ; 士人学术研究与典籍整理也需要古籍 ; 文人嗜书好古的习尚使他们宝爱古籍 ; 此外, 明政府曾下令严禁窜改旧版文字, 行格, 这些因素相互作用, 至明代嘉靖前后(弘治, 正德, 嘉靖, 隆庆), 出版业兴起一股翻刻宋本的热潮, 其影响波及晚清乃至民国初期的出版业.
