Report of the Board on Heavy Ordnance and Projectiles appointed in conformity with the act of Congress approved March 3, 1881, by general orders, no. 48, A. G. O., May 16, 1881, for the purpose of "Making examination of all inventions of heavy ordnance and improvements of heavy ordnance and projectiles; and making a detailed report, to the secretary of war for transmission to congress, of such examinations with recommendation as to what inventions are worthy of actual test and the estimated cost of such test."
