British, American, and Australian anthropologists who had worked together at the Rhodes-Livingstone Institute (Zambia) or Manchester University presented a set of essays that could be used to teach methods of anthropological research, and that research workers could use as a guide when they were actually in the field. The topics include the intensive study of small sample communities, the frequency of divorce, the extended-case method and situational analysis, the data of economics in anthropological analysis, the case method in the field of law, and the study of witchcraft. The book was first published in 1967, and is reproduced here from the 1978 edition. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
