- Summary:
- Contributors to this handbook include academics and practitioners in public management, urban planning, medicine/health care, emergency management, and criminology; many are from John Jay College of Criminal Justice-City University of New York (CUNY). In part 1 of the book, they give a history of the field and a conceptual model for critical incident analysis. In part 2, they emphasize theoretical, disciplinary, and policy perspectives that shape critical incident analysis. Some specific areas explored include social structure after critical incidents, modeling and predicting critical incidents, and data mining for critical incident analysis. Part 3 of the book discusses a range of issues in critical incident analysis management, such as the role of street-level bureaucrats in disaster response, psychological first aid for survivors, and analyzing preparedness for terrorism. Schwester teaches public management at CUNY. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
