Educational expenditure (colonies). Return to an address of the honourable the House of Commons, dated 29 July 1908;--for, "return showing for each of the last five years for which the figures are complete and available the expenditure of the governments of the dominion of Canada and its provinces respectively, of the commonwealth of Australia and of its constituent states respectively, of the Cape Colony, and of Natal and of New Zealand on education, elementary, technical, secondary, and university, showing separately any expenditure of public money on scholarships and on post-graduate or research work, specially in connection with science and agriculture, as well as with other subjects and industries; in the case of consolidation of schools, the money spent out of public funds and, where possible, out of private funds to be indicated whether in the construction, equipment, or maintenance of central schools or in the conveyance of children or in other ways, and the numbers of children in average attendance, boys and girls respectively, in such schools to be stated."
