"This is the first hot-press edition of the Bible printed in America. In the advertisement (April 30, 1796) it was proposed to deliver the whole in forty numbers, at one half-dollar each; one of which will be completed every two weeks.' The finished work was completed in two volumes in November 1798."--Hills.
"The words 'from the hot-press of John Thompson.' in the imprint are enclosed within square brackets."--ESTC.

The Apocrypha, with caption title, have separate signatures (²A-2L²) and are printed in italic type. The New Testament, followed by the index and tables, has separate signatures (²chi1 3A-3T² 2chi1) and special title leaf, which reads: The New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, translated out of the original Greek: and with the former translations, Diligently Compared and Revised. RBC copy 2 has bifolium on wove paper from an unidentified New Testament (Authorized version, John 11:37-13:19 and Acts 2:30-5:2), the first leaf signed E4 and the second unsigned, laid in.
