Railways. Return showing the number of passengers conveyed on all the railways in England and Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, respectively, during the half year ended the 30th June 1859, distinguished in different classes; the receipts from each class of passengers, and from goods, &c.; the aggregate number of miles travelled by each class of passengers; the number of passenger trains and of goods trains respectively; the number of miles travelled by such trains; and the length of railway open at the commencement and at the termination of the half year; compiled from returns made in pursuance of the provisions of the act 3 & 4 Vict. c. 97.; together with a summary, comparing the traffic with that during the corresponding period in 1858.
