Return to an order of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 31 July 1857;--for, copies "of a letter dated the 31st day of December 1856, addressed by the First Commissioner of Her Majesty's Works, &c., to Captain Douglas Galton, R. E., James Simpson, Esquire, C. E., and Thomas E. Blackwell, Esquire, C. E., directing them to consider the plans for the main drainage of the metropolis, as submitted to the First Commissioner by the Metropolitan Board of Works:" "and,of the report, dated the 31st day of July 1857, presented to the First Commissioner, in accordance with the directions contained in that letter."
