Election expenses. Abstract of return to an address of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 29 May 1857;--for, a "return from each election auditor of the total amount of the audited expenses incurred by each candidate to serve as a member in the present Parliament, especially distinguishing the expenses, if any, of conveying electors to the poll, the number and expenses of the polling places, and of rooms engaged as committee rooms; the number and expenses of election agents, committee men, clerks, messengers, paid canvassers, and others; the expenses of printing addresses, placards, and advertisements; setting forth, also, the total number of voters on the registry, and the total number of votes polled for each candidate."
