- Summary:
- Never before published in Dutch literature accessible biographical reference work on Mondrian Winterswijkse youth and his later painting life in all its colorful hues. Particularly noteworthy are the unknown Mondrian anecdotes that portrait photographer / painter Jan Step in his youth heard of old, local painters. The January Achterhoeker Step, who was born in 1930 in Doetinchem, the story of Mondrian sounded familiar, much of this because he himself and his thoughts were back. Therefore I could without much trouble in the person and his image move, says Step. He decided the most complete story to put together about Piet Mondrian and his immediate living environments. Special attention in this book, his relationship with the painter-teacher Jan Braet von Überfeldt (1807-1894) as a mentor who played an influential role in the early life of Piet Mondrian.
