Rudkin's apparatus. Returns to two orders of the Honourable the House of Commons, dated 6 and 30 July 1839;--for, copies of the report of the Commissioners of Excise to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, or to the Lords of the Treasury, on the experiment of Mr. Rudkin's apparatus at the government distillery in Brown's Lane, during its progress from its commencement to the present time; of the reports respecting the same from Dr. Birkbeck to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, or to the Commissioners of Excise, during the same period; and the observations or remarks of the Commissioners of Excise on the reports made to them by Dr. Birkbeck. Copies of all Treasury minutes of Mr. Rudkin's invention for the distillation of spirits, from 1828 to 1839, both years inclusive;--also, copies of all official reports upon the same subject from 1828 to 1839, both years inclusive, to the Lords of the Treasury, or the Chancellor of the Exchequer, by Professors Brande and Lubbock, Dr. Birkbeck, and Mr. Rudkin;--also, copies of all official correspondence upon the same subject, and during the last-mentioned period, between the Lords of the Treasury or the Chancellor on the one hand, and Professors Brande and Lubbock, Dr. Birkbeck, and Mr. Rudkin, upon the other;--also, returns of the cost incurred in the fittings-up of distilleries, the construction of machines, and of all other expenses incidental to the various trials made of Mr. Rudkin's invention.
