Charities. Return to an address to His Majesty, dated 4 August 1831;--for, an analytical digest of the reports made to Parliament by the Commissioners upon the Public Charities, to contain, so far as is practicable, the following information under the heads of counties, and of every city and town in each county: the quantity of land and the number of houses, with the nature of the tenure when less than an estate of inheritance; the rent paid for such land and houses respectively: the amount of money, stating the sums in the funds, upon mortgage and personal security; distinguishing the amount of money to be advanced by way of loan, with or without interest, and whether the same be so applied: the number and amount of unimprovable rent and other charges; distinguishing those not exceeding Đ. 5, Đ. 10, Đ. 20, and under Đ. 50: the number and kind of ecclesiastical presentations, and also the number of scholarships, and whether the latter are made available: a statement of the number and amount of deductions made for land tax, and at what rate in the pound: to distinguish the amount of rent or interest which is applied to parochial purposes: the number and situation of the endowed schools in each county; stating the total income, and the number of children educated in each, and whether such children are partially or wholly educated free of expense; as also whether the master receives any other scholars than those belonging to the foundation.
