- "红楼梦"一百二十回本与前八十回本相比,传播领域较广,影响范围也较大.从乾隆五十六年(1791年)木活字初刊(程甲本),到次年的再版(程乙本);从乾隆末嘉庆初年木刻翻印的若干种白文本,到嘉庆年间加印评点的东观阁本(始见嘉庆十六年1811年本);从道光十二年(1832年)的王希廉评本,到光绪十年(1884年)前后的王希廉,姚燮合评本;直至光绪三十二年(1906年)蝶芗仙史评订的汇评本等.纵观有清一代百馀年的"红楼梦"传播史,由活字,木?到石印,铅印,印刷技术不断更新,说明读者对"红楼梦"的需求量在不断增大.由白文到增评,汇评,版本内容的逐渐丰富,说明读者对"红楼梦"的理解程度在不断加深.而上述这些印本,都是以一百二十回本的形式出版刊行的.
