Summary:
Vaughan (professor emeritus at the Air Force Institute of Technology) presents this fascinating account of early air warfare through the letters of World War I ace pilot Elliot White Springs. Springs became a fighter pilot during World War I and flew in both British and American campaigns. He was responsible for taking down 12 enemy planes, was wounded in a crash landing, and became a highly decorated war hero. His unique perspective and colorful descriptions of the war offer a highly entertaining reading experience. This book is intended for those interested in World War I aviation.
