Summary:
Cows are central to the lives of the Karamojong . They have always raided cattle both from neighboring tribes and their own clans. Raiding has invariably cost lives. But in recent years, it's taken on a new and sinister edge. The gun, the legacy of the arms trade that has fueled all African conflicts has replaced traditional sticks and spears to devastating effect. Lokwarionga is a commander of the constantly migrating cattle camps and has a reputation as a feared raider known to have killed at least 10 enemies. At now, he is a part of a new initiative. The Ugandan government is organized a number of warriors into paid vigilantes in an attempt to bring peace to Karamojong.
