- Tristan is very strongly British , including both its policemen's uniform and bus cues. Tristanians are very loyal to Britain . You could even see an occasional pitch of her majesty on a sitting room wall. But it's the island that British forgot. Lost way out in the Southern Atlantic, the island is some 2000 miles west of South Africa.
