- Summary:
- Ninety years ago this was the heart of a French coalfield and the epicenter of one of the worst battles in the great war. In the Autumn of 1915 , the allies launched a massive offensive, "The Battle of Loos". They intent to break the stalemate of trench warfare and earn victory by Christmas. Instead, the allies suffered 75,000 casualties and almost a third of the dead were never found.
