- Summary:
- For various reasons unrelated to the merits of his work, Charles Henry Miller (1842-1922) has been overlooked--a neglect for which this volume is a corrective. Fleming (director of the Southold Historical Society) and Bramson, a former university professor and Miller's great grand-daughter, describe, document, and celebrate Miller's life and career. He was well respected during his life for his art, his love of and representation of Long Island, and his participation on institutional boards supporting other artists. The plates showcasing paintings and drawings speak for themselves. Art historian William H. Gerdts (emeritus, City University of New York) provides the foreword. The volume is distributed by Hudson Hills Press. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
